Public Interest Alberta “Poverty by Design” Brief
For the Public Interest Alberta’s 2025–2026 Annual Report, I led the visual design, illustration, and publication layout, building a distinct visual identity that reflects the organization's mission and momentum.
Visualizing Complex Socio-Economic Data
Translating dense public policy research into clear, actionable visual narratives is essential for driving systemic change. For the Public Interest Alberta’s Poverty by Design report, I led the information design and layout, focusing heavily on converting heavy socio-economic datasets into clean, high-impact data visualizations.
While this project required a more streamlined, independent execution with less cross-team management, the key challenge lay in maintaining high design rigor across dozens of custom charts, graphs, and structured diagrams.
Key Responsibilities & Highlights:
Custom Data Visualization: Designed clear, accurate, and accessible charts, graphs, and infographics to highlight key economic disparities, poverty metrics, and policy alternatives.
Information Architecture & Layout: Structured complex policy text, task force findings, and comparative data points into an intuitive layout hierarchy that guides stakeholders seamlessly through the report.
Brand Consistency & Polish: Established a clean visual tone and consistent style guide tailored to executive board presentations, policy advocates, and community leaders.
The final publication provided Public Interest Alberta with an influential storytelling tool, making complex economic research immediately digestible for board members, media outlets, and public interest advocates.
